Ginger is usually our noisy GP, wheeking and squeaking. The last day or so she has been quieter and when I gave her a cuddle this morning she was making a noise which for want of a better description sounded like rubbing 2 pebbles together, I guess it could be described as sort of snoring but it's not really like that. She is eating and drinking normally.

Thoughts?

Took her to the vet who thinks it might be a respiratory infection, gave her a jab of antibiotics and then some oral for the next 4 days.

Any top tips for looking after her? And what about our other Guinea pig?

(Btw the vet was nice but was telling me, over my 7year old daughters head, about how all his daughters GP's had died over a week due to respiratory infections :()

that was a reassuring vet......not! two of my cavies i have taken to the vet when i noticed some clear runny noses, given baytrilboth of these cavies are definatley happy and running around.if not caught early uri can lead to pneumonia ,always a risk that they could pass away, but I'm sure there are many that eradiate the infection.you have been very observant, and you are giving your piggies the best chance.well done and:hug: s to you.

i would rather someone from the health and illness team give advice on how to care for uri, even though i have had alot of experience, best we all pull from the same source or otherwise it can get confusing.x
