Hi everyone,
I have had two guinea pigs for just over a year.. a week or so ago I introduced 3 more little piggies into their family (followed all of the bonding guidelines) all has been going well, and they seem to have been living and playing happily and bonding as a group...
The boss piggy (Squeak) has today started really chasing the small ones around and trying to hump them.. I’m not sure if this showing dominance or because she is in season.
She has always rumble strutted around their cage (even when there was only 2 of them for a whole year) and when she was in season last time she tried to hump her sister (Bubble) but due to bubble being equal size, Bubble used to just kick her off and run off....
I just want some opinion on if this is behaviour I should be worried about.... the last thing I want is to miss a sign that an argument is brewing or one of the little ones getting hurt...
In between this behaviour they are all sleeping and eating and playing together quite happily...

Any advice is appreciated...

Thanks
I have got a video but can’t figure out how to upload it to the post yet.

Chasing and humping are all completely normal dominance behaviours.
Do be aware that it takes two weeks after they are put together for them to fully establish their relationship so what you are seeing sounds to be within the normal boundaries of newly introduced piggies.

We can’t upload videos directly to this site. You need to upload to YouTube first and then post a link to it here
