I’m really wanting to get another pair of piggies, but I’m still trying to convince my husband 😫 Anyway, I previously considered splitting our boys and getting them a girlfriend each. But changed my mind after advise on here saying what I thought after that idea came to mind.

Now I don’t mind getting another pair. But, bearing in mind I have boars, I feel like I may have to stick to that, else I’d have to make room for girls to go elsewhere. The boys are on one side of the dining room, could I put the girls on the opposite side or do they have to be in a separate room entirely?

Ideas on accommodation are welcome for any of you who have separate girl and boy piggies. I’ll keep working on my husband.

They are like pringles - once you start you can't stop!

However, and as much as i love adding to my mini herds, I also have to give myself a 'check'. I know I can't have more than I have now (8) because it's time, energy, and food costs and who could look after them in an emergency. So I would probably urge you to ask the same of yourself.

I adore my fluffsters and although I have considered having another hutch. 4 hours cleaning a week gives me a sense check too.
I also don't want to turn you off from having more too; so to answer your questions. I wouldn't separate your bonded boars. I've had no problem housing boars and sows in the same room a long as it has a good airing too.

I do enjoy how they are different boars and sows are.

They are certainly addictive.

After Keziah died in June I told my husband I wouldn’t get any more piggies until we moved house next year or we lost Merab and Jemimah was left alone.
By the end of July I had another 2 youngsters who successfully bonded with my pair to make a delightful herd of 4 sows.

My husband’s response?
“I knew you wouldn’t last.”

@Mother Hubbard
In an emergency I know that my husband would step up and look after them. He’s already good with the two we have in terms of feeding and making sure they have enough hay and fresh water, and getting them for time out of the cage. 4 hours cleaning a week?! :own: But
4 would be my limit, and I could comfortably absorb food costs for 2 more. As for time, I think that could possibly be a bit lacking. I work nights at the moment, so interaction with the boys is in the morning when I come home and feed/top up hay I have a little chat and stroke with them before bed. Then later after I collect the kids, I’ll chat to them and give them dinner. I then interact on and off till bedtime. On the days I haven’t worked nights I’ll interact more with them, and give them floor space as well. My children also talk to them and stroke them when they’re home. My eldest will feed them in the morning if I haven’t done so, and the eldest girl changes the water. My husband will also check on their hay and pellet supply when he comes home in the evening, or will sort them out when we’re out the house (If we are going anywhere before their dinner time, I always leave having fed and given them more hay). You’re now making me worried that it’s not enough.....maybe I should stick to two. But there’s some I saw that someone is reforming to due unforeseen circumstances. And they’re gorgeous! 😩 and a pair of girls that also need reforming, they’re gorgeous! 😩😩😭 I don’t mind sacrificing the time I spend on my ‘personal activities’ to look after them. Dilemma!

@Merab's Slave 😂😂 when I got the first pair, I thought that would be it! 😁😳 they are addictive and like Pringles (I do like Pringles!).

How far apart are they from each other @Livia Rabideau?

I open the dining room window every morning for a few hours. My worry is what to do when it gets colder.

A couple of feet. I have the side of the girls cage covered so the boys can't see them, but they are loud and they know they aren't alone! Lol. They have separate floor time space. I am careful to handle the boys first just in case.

Here it is. Girls on the left side of the room. Boys on the right.

Pretty close. Well, my husband is still saying no 😰 so looks like I’ll be cuddling just my two gorgeous boys.

I have a neutered boar and sow bonded pair and also a pair of sows.
They are in stacked c&c cages and all seem happy.
They have floor time at the same time but in separate pens.
