So due to recent financial woes I've had to stop ordering our supplies for our animals online (I just now was able to get online again for the first time since we moved. Our other computer died all sorts of stuff going horribly wrong) and using Petsmart to get them. Now here's the kicker: I've been looking for months for a companion for Pancake. I could see that being alone isn't good for her. So I go in looking to buy pet food for our menagerie (Which now resembles the 12 days of Christmas song 3 cats 2 Guinea Pigs and one lone dog) and come home with a new piggie. I broke my cardnial rule I bought a guinea pig to add to our family. Normally I don't condone such things but this little girl screamed help me. She was in the back corner of the pigloo with several others piled on top of her. The display was much smaller than Pans cage and she just screamed help me. So I did the horrible and bought her. I am so glad! She is nameless so far the task has been left to my fiance , but her ears have been chewed on! Grrr....I wish I could have afforded to save them all. So far Pan has taken to her well...no agression at all..the only thing I'm worried about is she doesn't seem to want the veg we feed Pan. She's only a few months old (I will give it to petsmart that they have all girl guinea pigs. I checked her gender anyway which seemed to annoy the little girl helping me) I know her age only because she is much smaller than Pan. Heck I didn't realize exactly how big Pan was until she was next to her...I feel bad that I had to buy her to rescue her but she feels like she was meant to be with us. We're going to get more cubes, I have plans to put a couple more levels on their cage to make it look like a light house piggie playground...Pans so much calmer today, she's not being aggresive to the new little girl, she's been in the pigloo with her like she's affraid we'll take her new companion away which makes me wonder again what happened with the people who originally owned her. Why did they abandon her at dumpster? Oh well I'll keep everyone updated on our progress. BTW petsmart makes you sign a contract now stating that you'll return the pet to them if for some reason you feel it's too much to handle, they also ask for the name of your vet, and they tell you what you should need. (THough some of their newer people need to be educated on proper guinea diet. I had one guy who had no idea that they aren't supposed to eat nuts...He's new though I haven't seen him before.) I've made a contact at my new store (I moved into a lovely 1922 bungalow that is much cheaper rent wise than my apartment.) so I'm going to talk to him and see if we can set some education classes cause I noticed that their ferret food wasn't up to snuff (My bestfriend owns 2 of those) so we'll see what happens...
