One of my pigs has a little blade of orchard grass on his eye. It doesn't seem to be bothering him, but I'm not sure how to get it off of his eye. I'm afraid to touch the eye. Maybe I could flush it out with a syringe of luke warm water? I don't think he'll be able to get it out of his eye just by cleaning his face...

I think you could try the syringe if it isn't moving. My Hamish had a tiny bit of hay in the corner of his eye the other day and I gently got it with the edge of a moistened tissue.

If you can't get it out quickly, then it's a vet trip. But dont hang about too long, that's how my little jack lost his eye. I don't want to alarm you, but sooner the better.

I checked on him the next morning and the piece of grass was no longer in his eye, so he must have gotten it out on his own.

Keep a watch on him still. Two of my pigs got hay in their eyes at the same time. I got both bits out - one was absolutely fine, but the other developed a cloudy eye & needed antibiotic cream. Healed within 24hrs, but as Lil says, needs to be treated quickly.
