Can anyone help me?

I have a guinea pig called mimi shes coming up to being 3 years old. About a week ago i noticed her eye looked sore. It looked cloudy and grey towards the top of her eye with some sort of sticky stuff on her eye. She seemed fine in herself and was eating normaly and looked in no discomfort so i left her be. Yesturday evening i was holding her and part of her eye towards the top had turned pink/redish and looked raised but still she did'nt seem in any pain. Anyhow i took her to the vets this morning to have a genaral check and to ask about the eye. He said she is very healthy and seems laid back. When he examined her eye he said he thinks it looks like she has scratched it or caught it on something and thats why its raised and a funny colour. He has prescribed her Fucithalmic eye drops as a antibiotic and told me to give her them twice a day to clear the area and keep away infection. Hes a picture of her eye. Would like some further advice because I'm not sure if this is the problem.

I can't see the picture, but it doessound like what the vet said.

My guinea pig had an eye puncture and scratch, and his eye turned cloudy and sore. We had to give him eyedrops and bathe his eye. It sounds like your piggy has some blood around her eye as well.

Continue to give your piggy the eyedrops, ensuring that all of the drop goes in (it quite often drips down their fur, or they shake it in your face). Keep giving your piggy the eyedrops even after it appears to be better. The problem can come back very quickly if you don't.

Another possibility is something pushing the eye, but I can't comment until I see a picture.

Hope you pig is better soon :)

It sounds about right and the treatment is pretty standard for eye infections. Thankfully, infections tend to go down pretty quickly when treated. They should always be seen by a vet, though, as soon as you notice as they can get very painful and nasty if you leave them be.

I can;t see your picture.

I couldn't write my post fully earlier as my dinner was ready, but something I wanted to add was: did you see a cavy specialist? (or someone with more experience with guinea pigs than your average vet) There treatment is likely to be the same, but you might been more reassured if you saw an experienced vet.
