Ahh, guinea pigs - how they enrich our lives and our relationships.

Courtesy of our piggies DH (dear husband) and I had the following conversation last night.

DH: We need to talk. I think you might have a problem.
Me: What problem?
DH: I think you might have a problem with hay.
Me: Oh no, my hay allergies are much better after my desensitization injections. Really they are.
DH: I wasn't talking about allergies. I could barley get the car in the garage tonight we have so much hay in there.
Me: You are totally exaggerating. We don't have that much hay. Just a couple of bags.
DH: One of the kids is now using the hay mountain as a bike stand. I counted at least 10 bags of hay and 7 different types. That just seems a little excessive.
Me: I am sure it's not that much. And I will talk to the kids about using the actual bike stand for their bikes.
DH: I took a photo. This just doesn't seem normal.
Me: Oh look, it's Thursday. Should we have a glass of wine?

If your DH complains about your piddly amount of hay he should see my hay mountain when I have come back from the farm. I get 2 farm bales and pop it in black sacks whilst at the farm to save the mess when I'm at home. I have around 10 huge black sacks and it only just fits in the car. I have the piccie on my phone so I'll post it in a minute I chuck it anywhere there is a space. We can't fit the car in our garage!

Ha ha it's his problem not yours. You have to do this in case there's a hay shortage.

I read the title of your post and thought hay mites, allergies, unexpected "gifts" of dead birds/frogs in hay. Then I read your post and had a right good laugh. I see no problem whatsoever in your hay pile. Mine is just as big. And nowhere near as neat and tidy. I admire your Swiss style tidiness. And I bet you are fab at jigsaws too ;)

I was thinking hay in hair, in clothes or worse.

I live in a flat, and have twice as much. Now, that is a problem :D

I've had to become very, very creative with storage. Little bags of hay keep appearing in most unexpected places

At least it is in a neat pile and in the garage. My stock of hay etc is not very neatly in and around a box in the same room in the house as the piggies. Plus there are bits of hay all over the floor which fall there when I am filling the hayrack or cleaning the cage, and they get spread all round the house. Tidiness is not my strong point. Luckily my husband is similar so he can't complain!

I have outside piggies and the hay still migrates inside and upstairs and I have even found it in the upstairs loo! How? I really don't know. It just gets EVERYWHERE! and I hoover it up every couple of days!

Now that's funny...

Lets face it, we've all been there and frankly with winter here, naturally you have to take in extra stock. I've started stock piling too. I need to get into the garage next weekend and sort out a new area for the other stock pile!
:lol!:
