I was reading a thread which mentioned Lethal pigs, which sent me on a little detour around the forum for more info. I read about Micropthalmia and it made me wonder about Geraldine. She has very small eyes, compared to Panda and Tufty, and I wondered whether this is likely to cause any problems in the future. She is not a Lethal, being quite the wrong colour and in robust health, but this is more a general query as to whether a small eye can be an issue. I've shared my home with a few pigs over the years, and she is the first with eyes this tiny.
This pic was taken at Little Pip's during their bonding period, and Geraldine is the one in the middle.

My Truffles is known as big eyed Truff as she has huge eyes - no problems with them - Bea had small eyes but never had any problems.

She looks similar to my Truffle and Toffee who have the same size eyes. As far as I know they cause no issues.

They look within the range of normal to me. I think some of it is just down to different facial features, like people. I've had pigs with larger and smaller eye sizes and all seemed to see fine. Even if she didn't, pigs seem to do okay without good vision... my elderly girl, Sundae, has developed cataracts in her old age but has adapted really well to them... after a transition period where she was hesitant and sometimes disoriented, she has resumed normal behavior in spite of being unable to see much of anything (the only thing I see a reaction to is a camera flash.)
