A question about Riff...

This came from the thread about Lincoln's diabetes.

The vet said to me that she thought Riff had diabetes because he drinks loads and has cataracts. However, urinalysis showed no glucose or ketones.

I have cut down Riff's fruit the last few weeks - to his fury - but I am wondering. Just because of the drinking and the cataracts does that necessarily mean diabetes? Could it not be the cataracts are just there and the drinking was due to the massive bladder stone that was later removed. Or does he have it and we just had a lucky urinalysis result?

i would get a second opinion on something like this. i am. even though Lincoln shows all the symtoms and the urine showed he was I'm still getting a second opinion. Do you know any other good vets you could see?

Rocky is going for a cyst check up soon. I might take Riff too and mention it again. Riff loves fruit and I don't want to withold it unless I have to.....

Does anyone know if the urinalysis sticks are the same as the human ones; if so I could test him at home.

the lady at the vets today told me i could get the human ones to test Lincoln daily xx
