A Question...

When I moved here 6 months ago the patio garden at the back was not a usable space as it had not been cleared by the builder that refurbed the house before I moved in (I later found out that he created the mess in the first place!) and there was the remains of what looked like a bonfire of rubbish, the fences were coming down and there was cat poo everywhere and the slabs were in a right state.

Now I have made it a nice little area with pots and plants, a table with a parasol and a BBQ. I was wondering if (supervised of course) if there was any reason why I couldn't let my boys out there for playtime with boxes and tunnels until my summer hutch and run arrives?

No reason why you shouldn't....except that piggies can stretch up to nommy green....

Mine are running about on tiles in the conservatory so that does them no harm...

And they will enjoy the space and run time, given places to hide away from overhead predators (this is Columbine with the lettuce)

I was thinking I could put some fleece down with a hidey box and put their toys and tunnels and stuff out - need to weed round the edges of the patio again as I dont know what the green stuff that is growing is and I wouldn't want them to eat something that might make them poorly. I will also need to move Cia's strawberries as he would be gutted if the piggies ate them lol

You need to check that there are no gaps in the fence anywhere that they could squeeze through. If not then that looks like a lovely space for piggies to run around. As Sarah says, hideys are a good idea: I recommend plastic footstools as found in bargain shops and LIDL.

There are no gaps - I have been round them all and creosoted them - they used to be a rather nasty brown and mouldy - so i brushed them down and treated them with a rather nice forest green colour - that was a few weeks ago so I know they are dry and safe for my boys to be near.

Thank you - just need the weather to clear up so we can give it a try. The only thing I have decided so far is that Fudge will have to wait until the summer hutch arrives as he is so small that I would probably lose him somewhere lol.
