Many of you may already know that Peter Gurney who was one of the greatest guinea pig experts/author has passed away. As you may have read in some of his books, he had been suffering from many illness during his life and has now crossed the rainbow bridge and looking after all the piggies on the other side.

I want to say a big thank you for his wonderful books and the knowledge of guinea pigs he has shared with us and hope that he is remembered as a caring, dedicated man to not only his guinea pigs, but everybodys guinea pigs.

Think it happened over the weekend. Its so sad :( Was hoping that I would get to meet him at some point.

It is such a sad loss.

He was a wonderful man and the guinea pig world will be a much sadder place without him.

Oh gosh, a huge loss to the piggy world.

My thaughts are with his family.

ahhh that is so sad but he has left us all with a legacy of love for all piggys and the knowledge he passed on was priceless, we know what he is doing now..... playing over the bridge with gazillions of our piggys from over the years, we have lost,

Oh my goodness what a shock.
How sad. I wonder who will look after his guineas now?

RIP Peter. He's gone to look after all the rainbow bridge piggies now.

I'm shocked, I had no idea.

I met him at the Doncaster show and he signed a book for me. He seemed a lovely chap and I met some of his pigs too. I only had two piggies then and was quite new to it all.

What terrible news. :-[ :'( hes going to be greatly missed.

Rest in peace Peter. What a terrible shock, he was such an amazing man and made the most amazing contribution to the welfare of guinea pigs everywhere. I am imagining him surrounded by piggies at the Bridge...

I cant believe hes gone. !

I met him at a show once, and he was so nice to me. It really is a shame hes no longer with us.

Did you know his piggies are up for rehoming at one of the rescues.... I do find that so really heartbreaking. I cant stop thinking about how hard that must have been for him to let them go.

I have his phone number and was going to get round to visiting one day - that will never happen now. I can't bring myself to delete the number from my phone though.
It must be wonderful to have touched so many people's lives. He will be missed so much.

Yes I saw your other thread. They are beautiful piggies. They'll be snapped up in no time.

Have just seen this. I didn't know he had been ill.On hols I decided to write to him when I got back . .

This is terrible and sad news. I know my Angel-Doctor will meet him at Rainbow Bridge.

Sleep well, Peter, with all your little ones.xx
