My two piggies have a big hay pile in their cage along with two hay filled toilet paper rolls. The toilet paper rolls never get old, they will play with and eat from them all day. They get super excited whenever I top up or exchange their hay, but will slowly lose interest in it as every hour passes. I top up/exchange their hay at least 3 times a day, so it's not like the hay is old or super soiled (they use the bathroom next to the hay, not even directly in it actually,) and they definitely still eat it, just not as excitedly as in the first hour I give it to them. I think this is pretty normal piggy behavior, so I'm sure you know what I'm taking about.

My piggies don't really have a problem with eating too little hay like I said, but if they look a little bored, I will occasionally toss about 6 pieces of fresh hay from the box onto the hay already in their cage and they go WILD! It's as if all of the older hay is suddenly fresh, delicious, top quality, straight from the box hay again! They will sit there and eat from the pile they had lost interest in an hour ago, just because I put a few new strands of hay on top! 😆 The piggies have been effectively fooled!

Perhaps this trick will work for piggies who don't seem to be eating enough hay, or maybe my piggies are just too easily fooled 😅

It's not just Piglet, then. I've been making a mixture of veg's, nuggets, herbs, fruit, fresh grass and mostly hay and stuffing it all into half lengths of loo roll inner. Talk about being controlled by a guinea pig 🤣
