It all began with a throwaway comment and now via @exia Harry has invited us to Stockholm to visit.

Looking at next year this is just sounding out who would like to visit Stockholm and meet up for lunch and whatever else we want to do.

What kind of time would suit best.

I envisage that everyone makes their own arrangements for travel and accommodation and how long you want to stay in Sweden but we plan a day together.
@exia can advise us on a meeting place and what to do

I went to Stockholm on a field trip when I was at university. It’s a beautiful city and I have fond memories ❤️

I would love to visit again but finances sadly will not allow right now x

My OH would love to go to Stockholm. We can go anytime as we haven't anything planned for 2027.

I would love to visit Stockholm again if we find a date that can be arranged around my work schedule and the holiday plans of my pig sitter.

How about the end of June or beginning of July 2027.
Weather should be good and the days will be long.

Is anything happening on this idea? Now my husband has retired, I can go gallivanting around more easily. He is game on for a visit to Stockholm as his little sister's nanny (now a family friend) lives there. It would be fun to meet other piggy slaves outside the UK!
We're still up for a Stockholm meet. We've always wanted to revisit after a cruise gave us a glimpse of it.
Still planning on going next year depending on prices and if there’s any flights still going.
Apparently Lufthansa are cancelling about 20000 flights this summer due to lack of jet fuel.

I'm also looking forward to it.
At the moment, I'm hoping for enough jet fuel and affordable tickets for my visit to the UK later this year.
Let's hope the situation will get better again soon.

Still hoping there will be flights for a planned trip to Berlin & Vienna in September / October

If no flights, you could go by train. More expensive I know but think of all the German you'd be exposed to from the German border onwards! And the landscapes you'd be travelling through!

SW Germany to Scotland is doable by rail over a long day (or at least used to be for years, I haven't been back to the UK for about 10 years now) nonetheless a day, and my area of SW Germany isn't very well serviced by super fast trains. Both Berlin and Vienna will have better connections.

A long long time ago, I got the train from Frankfurt to Vienna and have vague but pleasant memories of the landscape.

It’s actually cheaper to travel by train, just longer.
I haven’t worked out the total cost but the trip would be Hull to Amsterdam by ferry, train from Amsterdam to Berlin, train from Berlin to Vienna and then back the same way.
It may be worth seriously considering

Cheaper by train - wow! I used to travel by train a lot between the UK and Germany plus all over Germany and into Switzerland and Austria, so totally pro-train and had a 50% discount pass for Germany too. But the first thing non-train travellers tell you is how expensive rail is compared to flying. Maybe if you only fly Ryanair?

I took the ferry once between Amsterdam and somewhere in northish England, I don't think Hull, doesn't matter anyway. Hope it all works out!
