Had a pretty tough evening/night tonight...
My neighbour moved in in late last year and brought with her two very, very gorgeous dogs who have become a small but special part of my life over the last few months. Unfortunately not long after they moved in Connor was diagnosed with lymphoma and was given 6-8 months to live... Well today our neighbour came over and told us he wasn't doing very well and after sitting with him for a few hours this evening we got a call just after midnight to say that the vet was on her way. He hadn't left the kitchen floor we left him on this evening and it got to the point where it was killing his mummy to see him suffer.
So, the vet came, we all said our goodbyes to him and I held his head as the vet gave him his injection and he peacefully slipped away on my hand with his mummy stroking him... 8...
His buddy Lucy seemed to know exactly what was happening and after coming to look at what the vet was doing she left the room just before the vet did the deed... She looked so sad.
Anyway, Connor, I may not have known you very long but you were one amazing dog. Giving you cuddles and seeing the way you greeted me every time I popped up at the fence was fantastic and your mum was certainly right about one thing - you were a 'dude'. You'll be extremely missed by everyone who met you - you were one special, gorgeous, amazing dog who wriggled your way into peoples' hearts the minute they met you. I promise I'll give Lucy extra cuddles every time I see her. <3
Connor is the beautiful collie on the left. Lucy (little chunky monkey) on the right.
