So another delightful conversation took place in our home today.
When the girls came home for lunch I was chatting to DD1 (12) about her morning.

Me: Did you do anything interesting in school this morning?
DD1: Actually we did. Because it is Valentines Day we had to write a poem about the things that we love and that make us happy.
Me: That sounds interesting, but also pretty tricky.
DD1: It was really hard. The poem had to be 6 verses long, and each verse had to be about one thing that made you happy and reasons why.
Me: Hopefully you had enough things to write about.
DD1: Oh yes - that part wasn't hard at all. I had lots of things to write about. I even wrote one verse about you Mum.
Me: Wow - that is really special, and I am very flattered. I can't wait to see your poem.
Wait a minute - did you write about me or Ruby first?

Total silence.....

that is adorable! your piggie in the picture is so adorable! she has lovely fur!
Thank you for your kind words.
Sadly the piggy in the picture is awful - she bites everyone (except DD1) and we all live in total fear of her.
But she does have nice fur

Awwwww Ruby! The beautiful bitey one! Piggy with attitude!

It was a silly question really, wasn't it @Swissgreys? :P

It was.
To be honest the real surprise was that I got a mention at all, and the whole poem wasn't dedicated to Ruby

In fact I probably only got a mention because she ran out of words that rhyme with 'Ruby'

Sooooo - do we not get to see the poem? I'd love to know what she managed to come up with to rhyme with Ruby....I haven't a Scooby (for those not familiar with rhyming slang - Scoobydoo/clue)

I can put up a copy of the poem when she brings it home, but it will be in German. She goes to the local school so is taught in a mixture of German (the main teaching language, which differs from the local dialect that they speak with their friends), then English then French. So maybe Ruby is easier to rhyme in German?

You Swiss are so clever - I can only do O-Level French and English (and even at that, some English people struggle to understand me, because I've a Scottish accent lol)

The Swiss are indeed masters of language.
But just to clarify - sadly I am not Swiss, and I personally have the linguistic ability of a stone.
The children on the other hand find it hard to believe that there are people out there who really only do speak one language.
I mean according to DD1, even Ruby is bilingual...
I Don't Think She Is Doing Homework...
