Hi everyone,

We don't know if you're all aware but this year is a very special one for the Forum as we have successfully almost reached our 10th anniversary. :yahoo:

The Forum thinks that this is an important milestone and warrants special celebrations to mark the occasion. A small group called the 'Anniversary Herd' has been pulled together to help plan and organise events for this special year and they are looking for inspiration from members in the form of ideas for fundraising for rescues and other events and competitions to run on the Forum throughout the year. Anyone with any ideas please feel free to PM one of the group members who are listed below who will bring it to the group for discussion.

Introducing the Anniversary Herd - :tu:

The group are intending to organise an additional meet sometime in June which will be the main event for the year and we hope that as many members can come along to this, a separate thread will be started for this meet. We hope you can join us for what will be a fabulous day with lots of fun.

I think it is important that we don't forget the person who started the forum, and put many years of hard work into it, way before most of the current members joined. Without Ellie, the forum would never have been made. In fact not sure how many of the original members are still about. Also, for information, the two piggies in our logo, were my Snap and Goggles! I think it is so lovely that they live on as our forum logo.

I didn't realise that Claire - I also joined in March 2008, what a coincidence. And of course I remember Ellie very well, and the enormous help she was to me when I had a major problem.

How very strange. I've just noticed that you joined 15 days before me. It is due to this forum why we are now such good friends :hug: It's amazing what a PM over gerbils and speeding fines can do :hug:

Yes, it was indeed gerbils and speeding fines (rather than guinea pigs) that brought us together initially :)
 
I'm not around as much as I used to be as running the piggy rescue seems to take up so much of my day and an awful lot of the rescue information/news is shared on our FB page/group, but I am trying to pop by more frequently :) Things have changed so much since the forum first started, just looked back to see when I joined and it was 1st Feb 2007!
 
I joined on Christmas day last year, I'm extremely grateful for all the help and support I have received from forum members, particularly during those early days with the boys when I was worried that I was doing everything wrong. They've settled right in now and are happy, healthy boys. So thanks everyone, couldn't have done it without you all!

In 2008 I became slave to 2 boars very unexpectedly (less than 24 hr notice) when they needed a new home desperately. I googled guinea pigs and found this forum I lurked without signing up getting loads of help. Those 2 boars settled in very quickly and lived I hope happy lives thanks in no small part to the forum. Late 2014 saw me return to guinea pig keeping so I thought I'd better sign up this time round! So much has changed I'm glad I did, a big thank you to everyone who works so hard to keep the forum the friendly informative place it is from me and Spike and Peanut.
 
aw, 10 years guys! I honestly don't know what I would have done over the years without the support, the friends I've made and all those adorable piggy faces over the years! Plus all my boys have come from rescues on here since I joined. Can't WAIT for the big meet up!
