Hello!
So recently my pigs are making a strange noise. Best way i can describe it is like a muffled chirp/grunt...not sure which pig is making it or what actions theyre doing with the noise because its only in the evening. When i go to see they stop. I think its my oldest (2years old) Benji. Soon after he makes the noise its followed by a cough and then hes fine. Ive checked them both and they seem healthy. Both run around and play and i know benji and scootch were just testing their dominance.

It could possibly be hooting, does it sound like a duck?

Hooting can be caused by a number of things - allergens, dust up the nose, URI or even a heart issue. I would not worry at this stage if he is bright in himself but if you could narrow down which one is doing it, it would help. Check for any other symptoms like laboured breathing or snotty nose over the next few weeks.

So it is scootch (the youngest)! Its almost a whiny weak noise like hes nervous? Benji and him were sharing some veggies and scootch was making the noise but peacefully eating
I'm trying despretly to sneak in and record it

Good luck, will have a listen when you have it recorded.

So false alarm... figured it out due to showing the vet. Benji is just marking territory at night as scootch is out and about eating food. nothing to worry about :)
