A very unlikely nail trim injury!

Does anyone have a piggy who would rather bite their own foot off than submit to a nail trim? Well, that almost really happened today!
I was trimming Puggle's dark front paw nails, she gave me a warning nip, then just as I moved my hand she bit down as hard as she could... on her own paw! Blood everywhere. Luckily I have some styptic dressing pads the vet gave us when Clover tore a nail off, so the bleeding soon stopped and it was all fixed with a piece of parsley.
Here is psycho Puggle, eating parsley rather than her own foot. Daft piggy!

Yes it was a bit dramatic, my knuckle is bleeding, Puggle's foot, piggy daddy is bleeding from some scrabbly scratchy claw marks... luckily I have white kaytee paper bedding in the clean cage today so it will show up any bloody footprints, but Puggle doesnt seem too fussed now, those styptic pads from the vet are really good... my nerves and blood pressure may take a while to recover though!

Typical she caused the mania and she’s probably tucking in to hay now happily, while the humans sit around in shock! :doh: XD Pigs!
 
In better news, Ollie was a very good boy for his thick black curly nails trimmed and for only the second time ever I havent cut off any of his toes! I caught him by surprise on his way from the cage to the playpen, snip snip snip, parsley treat, all done before he knew what was happening :)
 
I hate nail clipping time! Elvis's claws are back and he bites (not hard but enough to notice) when he wants to be put down, which is straight away, and Eddie also has mostly dark claws (plus one beautiful white foot) and he wriggles if I don't pick him up and hold him in exactly the way he wants . And his claws are curly! Aghh! :doh:

Yup, I’ve been so lucky over the years with white piggies, hadn’t really realised until recently! :)) Had half and half with Reggie and Sheepy! Now I have quite a few extra naughty black ones to cause me trouble after Jess and Rupert for years!
(Not that Jess was ever good with manicure time, well over 7 years! 🙄XD)

The only time I’ve had issues with the quick recently is with the naughty Gigi! Aliona is amazing, but because she’s fearful bless her :( But now she eats on my knee it's over and done with in a minute! Then she gets more food in the cage so it’s quite positive with her nowadays! Such a good girl!:love: The others however..:hmm::mal:!

awwww naughty Gigi! At least aliona knows she gets treats :) what a good girl! Even ozzy screams at the sight of the clippers at the vets, I have two girls I swear :))
 
I always used to dread cutting Bill’s four black nailed feet, he used to scream the house down as soon as he saw the nail clippers. Ted was always really good, he had three black feet! I now have no black nailed piggies to deal with so life in that respect will be easierC250CF8C-4AEE-4195-A7A6-9D47F1608810.webp
 
My gorgeous Felix was so sweet and gentle and he never once bit us despite me doing some horrid things when he first arrived from the petting farm full of bites, sores, mites and running lice. However, when he was really unhappy about what was being done to him he used to gnaw on his front paws. I’d never seen that before, but it sounds like Puggle was doing the same - trying to avoid doing you a serious injury.

I think she was actually trying to do me a serious injury, I just moved and she bit herself! She is fine now but still giving me the pig eye... poor Puggle, she has very sharp teeth! I blame Theo for squealing like he was being murdered during his completely bloodless easy white nail trim, he's such a diva, made Puggle very twitchy nervous!
 
Poor Piggle, perhaps that will put her off trying to bite you, although maybe not, she could be out for revenge, it's all your fault she bit herself. :))
Spike used to gnaw his feet if we were cutting his nails or doing a health check he didn't like. Nugget and Brillo gnaw me if they get a chance!
 
Patsy gnaws her feet then tries to gnaw my hands when I try to check her teeth at the weekly check making me think she's never had her teeth checked on a regular basis. Considering she's over 5, I find this astonishing! But I don't know much about her life until I adopted her. She also moves her head from side to side making it be very hard for me to check her teeth.
 
Aww bless her! These pigwigs really don't like mani pedis do they 🤔 Marshmallow bit me once and drew blood 😂
The first time Sam cut nuggets nails she tried to move as he clipped and he hit the kwik, he actually cried and has never cut piggy nails again 🙈
I did feel awful when I hit caramels last nail trim though, never done it before, luckily it wasn't a massive bleeder it just look like I'd caught it slightly and there was a teeny bit of blood in the nail.
Hope puggle is OK and has forgiven you! I used to send princess to the vet for her scary black curly nails!
