A warning for outdoor guinea pig owners

This has just come up in a Facebook group. Please make sure your guinea pig hutches are well sheltered. Thankfully none of the four guinea pigs were harmed and the owner managed to find them all

It’s been very windy and when you put on waterproof covers they can act like a sail

Oh no she must have been so scared to see that and the poor piggies! Mine are in a triangle part of the garden, the only opening is a doorway width and it's so sheltered on all other side's but when it gets really bad they go into the garage

Omg how terrifying for everyone! Thank goodness they were all recovered, they must have been so scared.

How scary for the owner! Mine are sheltered. They are in front of a fence and about 3 foot from the Conservatory and the hutch faces north east.

My piggies are in there piggie playhouse with I think is probably impossible to blow over

When you look at the size of the garden too, they could so easily have gone missing So lucky

Very lucky pigggies, hutches are best place against a wall, building or fence. So glad they are

The wind was so strong yesterday, i was in nelson working and on the way back another van almost hit mine. If it can knock a van about a hutch wil def go over. I would dig the hutch legs into the floor a bit and concrete them in
