I lost my Connie
You were only 20 months old when you left us but you were my first guinea pig and had a great impact on my life. It was because of you that my passion for guinea pigs started.
You battled on for 5 long months with a reacurrent UTI. Backwards and forwards to the vets you went having constant x rays and medication but the infection always came back.
When your final x ray showed up black speckles, we agreed to the the vet open you up to see if there was anything that had been missed. The vet found that your bladder was small and inflamed. You had your bladder flushed and came round well from the GA. We thought that the problem had been solved and took you home to recover.
All was going well and we thought it had been a success. We took you back to the vet the following day for a post op checkup and even she was thrilled with your progress.
Sadly, it wasn't meant to be and 4 days later, we found you forever sleeping in your hutch with Eliza by your side.
Eliza took your death badly and became withdrawn so we made the decision to find her a friend and Eleanor came along. We have recently adopted a girl called Erin and I imagine you will be chuffed to know that they are all living happily together.
You may be gone but we think about you every day and you will never be forgoten.
Lots of love from all of us

Thank you to everyone who gave us such fantastic advise and support during Connie's illness and death. You know who you are.
