Senior Guinea Pig
Well today I will have had Pepper and Beauty for a whole year!
Wow, time flies! It doesn't feel like they've been here for a year :smitten: :smitten:
For those who don't know, I got them last boxing day (ie today) from the freeads. They were free, but they wanted £5 (I think it was) if we were going to take the hutch and run. So, we decided to take the hutch and run anyway because if we left them there then their previous owners may have been tempted to fill it again. The hutch was way too small (less than 3') and the run was pretty small too. We collected them boxing day, it was freeeezing cold and they were out in their run on the front garden when we went to collect them. The grass underneath them was frosty and wet and they had to water bottle either. Anyway, so we struggled to fit their hutch and run on the car but did it anyway and off home they came. I put them into their new cage and they loved it - it was about 4x the size of their old one afterall. Slowly over time we started to increase the amount of veggies (they'd never had any before) and now they devour loads daily :smitten: :smitten:
They've always been quite shy - they run when I walk past their cage but they're getting better. At first, they never ever came out in the day, they spent the whole day inside their houses hiding. Now, they run around their cage most of the day, sleep in open spaces not just in their houses and seem really happy :smitten:
So yeah, happy gotcha day Pepper and Beauty
I assume they will be about 18 months old now, but only if the previous owners were right in that they were around 6 months old.
Later they will be having some extra yummy veggies to celebrate :smitten:
