(I hope it is okay for me to post this here, if not then I’m sorry)
I’m posting this today because I’m not sure what time I’ll get on tomorrow.
Jelly - 15th March 2006 – 3rd January 2007
For those of you that don’t know, Jelly was my female gorgeous mink syrian hamster – she was the first pet to call my own. I researched for months before I got her, but I still ended up getting her from a pet shop. I brought her home mid-end April 2006, she was so tiny, such a skittish little thing, terrified of everything. She was never properly tame. I worked with her every day trying to get her more tame but she didn’t really want any of it. However, by about Christmas 2006 she started getting tamer and it was great, finally my hard work was paying off. She still wasn’t tame but I was hoping to have lots of time to spend with her. Unfortunately though that wasn’t to be and she died on the 3rd January 2007
The night before she died she was fine, her active, normal self. The next morning I went to feed her, she always responded to the food tub rattling, yet she didn’t run out. I noticed she had treats from last night still scattered around the cage..it was too unusual. I tapped on the side of the bit where she slept, no reaction. I kind of realised it then but I didn’t want to believe it. I searched around for her and I can only assume she went in her sleep, I hope she was anyway.
Jelly, it’s been a year now since you left me and I think about you all the time. I know I have more hammies now but I will never forget about you. I still wonder whether it was my fault or whether I should have known but you didn’t show any signs of being ill. I’m sorry if you were in pain or suffering and I hope you can forgive me. I love you Jelly.
RIP Jelly, I still miss you
