I was cleaning the kids, cleaned the one end then shepherded them down the clean end to start cleaning the main area and had a brainwave (brain malfunction as it turns out). I have hardboard on top of the tressle table as the table was short for their 6x2 c&c but its too wide and it stops me being able to reach them at the back. So I thought I would take out the hardboard from one end but leave the other in and then I could clearly see the tressle table edge to cut the hardboard flush later.

What I failed to process is that the c&c was also overhanging the back of the tressle table.

So we've gone from this before picture:

With hay all over my just cleaned carpet and 4 very freeked out guinea pigs hastily boxed in to the end 2x2 until I can salvage my c&c!

I should know better than to have "good ideas". Guess what I will be doing all evening:-)

I know what you mean mine has been rebuilt several times luckily getting better and better as we go ! x
(GOOD LUCK)

Trouble is, I can't get to the back of it which makes life difficult to rebuild. Have managed to get the basic 6x2 back together but looks like they will have to do without the hayloft for tonight. They're freeked out, I'm worn out and the place is a pit now. Just want to get them settled down.

Ive been toying with the idea of extending the set up to a 8x2 so we can introduce a boar to the herd so maybe this is my prompt to make some changes. And will definitely be asking my cousin to build me a custom table to fit it, and definitely with flippin wheels so I can get to the back:-)

Oops! Sure they'll settle down again. How exciting about a potential husboar!

Cable ties are the thread holding my sanity together (as well as my cages!) :)

Oh no! I think they'll be fine without their hay loft for a little while so don't worry too much x

Oh my word, this is the sort of thing I would do....don't tell anyone but I sort of got wedged in my hutch a few days ago, honestly my neighbours are going to call the men in white coats to come a fetch me soon lol.
Glad to hear you have managed to rebuild mist of it. Sounds exiting about adding a boar :)

I have tripped when getting into mine and ended up sprawled in the cage. The piggies run at first then just sit right next to my face. I swear they are laughing at me

XDBwahaha sorry Kell, the Imagery! How did you get stuck in the hutch? Did one of the girls lock the door behind you? :lol!: x I can imagine the neighbours sticking their heads over the fence like 'are you alright dear?' xx

I was trying to remove the ladder Ruth ha ha, but I had stupidly gone in the wrong door and at an odd angle, I had my head and both shoulders inside the hutch my body twisted at and angle (my back against the downstairs middle panel) and I was balanced on one knee which was also just inside the hutch, to get out I had to pull my knee from under me, lay on my back inside the hutch hold the now removed ladder in both hands above my my head and wriggle out on my back.

I was once nearly FULLY in the hutch, when I was first setting it up with screws on the ceiling. All I will say is my head hurt when I was trying to get out... Wa wa waaaa. lol

I often used to disappear into the hutch when cleaning it out! I swear the neighbours probably worried about me!

Hope you get it fixed soon.

Oh I know what you mean... When my piggies still lived inside when they had floor time is was so hard to catch them under the bed, and since the bed was low I couldn't even get under so I ran back and fourth to the other side and literally they laughed at me! They were squeaking away!

When I'm cleaning out the piggies the number of times they've come in and found me knelt down in their pen, the looks and also the looks when I smack my head on the shelf - it's almost like they are tutting at me...

I hope everything got put together again without a problem, think i would probably lose my patience with C&Cs

Bwahaha! I hope to never get stuck inside a hutch, you bunch of loons lol! :) :)
Hahahahahahaha! I'm with Flutter on this one! But just incase could
You have someone video or take pics next time you both clean your hutches?!?! Pretty please, it could be for instructional purposes! :D Like what NOT to do!

Edited: because I can't type
Well this early in the morning.

It was the cable ties that did the damage I think. The whole hayloft end is cable tied and as it went over the edge it couldn't come apart and ripped the rest of the joints out. Luckily the joints further down gave way and left to 2x2 end intact otherwise I would have had 4 guinea pigs running loose on top of everything else:-)

Ive missed having a boar in the house since Colby passed but its Laras reaction that's put me off trying to introduce another. But since Lara just rolled over and accepted the girls, maybe shes softened up!
