I was putting Abby back into her cage and she jumped out of my hands it was about 12 inches to the cage bottom. Now she is in her corner and wont walk on her right back leg. She has moved around a little bit to eat etc but doesnt want to walk on it all the time. She does put weight on it now and again, but would rather just lay down. I'm so sad about it...the vets are closed as it is the weekend and the emergency vet doesnt have anyone Guinea Pig knowledgeable. I dont know what to do. Do you think she could have just sprained it? She isnt crying out when walking or anything.

Is it bent funny? Does she squeak if you touch it?

it isnt bent funny...she does move it....but she does make a noise when i move it

Common "problem".
Give her 0.2ml Baby Calpol every 8 hours. A maximum of three doses initially and then see how things are progressing.

Calpol is liquid paracetamol, and infant / baby is a weaker form of the adult version.

It's paracetamol based. I think tylanol is similar. Hopefully she will be fine, it doesn't sound broken just twisted.

can these be found at the pet store do you think? or do i have to have a doctor prescribe it (sorry for my naiveness)

pharmacy will have it, baby tylanol is probably best

yup, calpol is for english humans :)) tylanol is the US version

You will need a little syringe to measure it. If you don't have one a vet would have one you could buy or maybe even the pharmacy. Is she getting any better? if she is it might not be needed, it might be ok on its own. Keep an eye on her, if she uses her leg she is fine.

she has actually gotten up and down her new ramp since hurting it...so i think she will be ok. but i will go buy some anyway, just in case

It is something to keep handy. That sounds really good, sounds like she is fine. When I had a 5 week old who broke his leg he couldn't climb up a pile of hay.

Be careful if it is concentrated. I have just looked it up and baby tylenol is often concentrated. Make sure she doesn't get too much.

Update on Abby's leg

Well, i gave her two doses of tylenol yesterday...today she is more alert and moving around great. She still favors the hurt foot but is doing wonderfully...popcorning, eating, running around with Molly, etc. I'm going to call the vet in the morning and see what they can tell me....but i'm feeling so much better about it today....poor piggy:<>
Thanks to everyone for your information, it made me feel so much better and I believe it helped Abby as well. I'm so glad to have my guinea knowledeable friends on here!
