Abdominal Mass ..what do i do!

Hi, I'm looking for some advice regarding my guinea pig dutchess. She went to the vets today with what I thought was a UTI symptoms (Crusty eye, wheezy, lethargy and not eating) but upon investigation the vet said she found a large mass in her abdomen and suspects this is what has caused her sudden deterioration. She sent her home with metacam and gut stimulates and asked me to keep an eye on her to see if she perks up with the meds as atm she is too poorly to even consider any operation. I have just checked on her and she is munching on some hay, my question is, if she does perk up, should I go through with the op? The vet says it's a very high risk op as the mass is very big. But I feel worried because she isnt my usual vet because of the covid19 situation, but it is still an exotic vets practice and she seemed confident she knew what she was talking about. I just keep wracking my brain whether the kindest thing to do would be PTS or put her through an risky operation when she is already so poorly 😔😪 Advice/experiences welcome.
 
I am sorry for the diagnosis :( In these situations I always think to myself that if I put my piggy through surgery but they die during, it will just be like pts and I know I have given my piggy a chance.

It’s a tough decision though that only you can make and whatever decision you make will be the right one
 
Hi unfortunately Dutchess did not make it :( she had a CT scan at a specialist vets and they found kidney failure caused by massive large bladder stones..5 of them! That had blocked the urethra completely in one kf the kidneys and the other kidney also had stones in. She was so unwell, and weak that she has to be PTS as puts would not have made it through the surgery :( I am so confused as my other pig is a bladder pig so they have always had filtered water, low calcium diet and Timothy based pellets. But obviously it just wasnt enough :( but thank you for your message x
 
Also the large mass that the first vet found was actually an enlarged kidney! Which my specialist vet suspected straight away!
 
I’m so sorry for your loss. I think some piggies are more prone to stones than others. You did the best for her and that’s all she needed. Take good care of yourself 💞
