Junior Guinea Pig
Hi, I'm looking for some advice regarding my guinea pig dutchess. She went to the vets today with what I thought was a UTI symptoms (Crusty eye, wheezy, lethargy and not eating) but upon investigation the vet said she found a large mass in her abdomen and suspects this is what has caused her sudden deterioration. She sent her home with metacam and gut stimulates and asked me to keep an eye on her to see if she perks up with the meds as atm she is too poorly to even consider any operation. I have just checked on her and she is munching on some hay, my question is, if she does perk up, should I go through with the op? The vet says it's a very high risk op as the mass is very big. But I feel worried because she isnt my usual vet because of the covid19 situation, but it is still an exotic vets practice and she seemed confident she knew what she was talking about. I just keep wracking my brain whether the kindest thing to do would be PTS or put her through an risky operation when she is already so poorly
Advice/experiences welcome.
