Abigail has a patch on her ear

When will Abigails ear start to improve? she has been on itrafungol since Monday and her ear doesn't look any better. Thank you

Please look at the ringworm pictures in the guide link. they chart the course of an acute ringworm outbreak. it has to run its due course, which takes around a week to get past the acute stage.

PS: I have had other group piggies picking up the infection from spores in the past and coming down with their own patches about a couple of weeks or so later or - if they picked them up through my clothes or wherever, even weeks or months afterwards. Never all of them thankfully, and never the same piggies or in the same place again, so it was not a clear reoccurrence with the exception of one case. A ringworm outbreak with 16 or 30 piggies is no fun!

Thank you, its only on her left ear. The F10 came today so cleaning everything with that. One piggy with ringworm is enough to stress about I couldn't imagine 16 or 30 :yikes:

It was never the full number affected but keeping up the hygiene in the days before itrafungol with all the baths was a logistical nightmare - just think of how many extra towels you were going through on top of the regular bedding; and everything had to be washed at a higher temperature... :yikes:

I still have a bin bag with my ringworm quarantine cage bedding in the attic... It has come in handy over the years!

You will get through it as the crusts on the effected patch should stop developing in the coming days and the patch should stop growing as soon as all affected hairs have come out. ;)

Rosie now has a greyish white patch on her ear. Vet said to start her with itrafungol. Probably a silly question is 60 hot enough to was my clothes at? as I have a condition which lowers my immune system and I don't want to catch it or spread it back to the girls. Thank you

Yes, as stated in our ringworm hygiene guide, 60 C is sufficient. ;)

Very sorry that Rosie has come down with it, too!

Abigail has been on itrafungol for 11 days now, the patch on her ear has got no worse or better it looks actually the same as it looked 11 days ago is this normal? I thought by now there should be some improvement. Any advice appreciated.

When do you next see Kim? I would wait and ask her advice.

Thank you, i will be taking Abi back tomorrow. Just worried it not changing at all. Just wondered if anyone had a piggy that this had happened to.

I've never had a piggy with fungal ears, so can't really comment, but when I've treated ringworm with itrafungol, I have started to see some improvement by this point. Kim will be able to tell you if this is normal or whether she would suggest another approach to this.

Abigail's ear still looks the same and is not clearing, she has been on intrafungol since the 14th October. Abigail went back to see Kim a week ago and she said to keep her on intrafungol for another two weeks. I am going to see Kim next week but Abi has not eaten or drank as much as she usually does over the last couple of days. Kim gave us a probiotic to give her if she needed it, can she have this at the same time as her intrafungol or should I leave a time gap between the two? Thank you
