Hello. Recently both my male pigs stopped eating. I took them to the vet and they aren't sure what's wrong with them so I am force feeding and giving fluids. My one male was found to have one small kidney and one very large kidney. We aren't sure if this is part of the problem or an incidental finding. I was wondering if anyone else has a pig with abnormal kidneys and how they are dealing with it and what it means for your pig. Thank you.

I would say you need to find a good guinea pig vet or similar to find out what the problem is, because if they are not eating you will then get teeth problems.good luck

I have had them checked out. Their teeth are fine and there is no upper resp infection. They are just starting to eat on their own but I am concerned about the kidneys. Wondering if any other pigs have this condition.

Welcome to the forum, I am sorry both boys are unwell.

Are they urinating normally? Have they been x-rayed to determine if anything is blocking the kidney to cause an enlargement (e.g. kidney stones)?

The loss of appetite is often related to pain. What I find unusual is that both have the same problem at the same time. Could they have eaten anything poisonous recently?

They have not gotten into anything, no chance of that. I'm really not sure what caused it. My fiance thinks maybe there was something wrong with their food so I opened a new bag. They are getting better. They have not been xrayed but the vet I went to is an exotic specialist and she didn't mention stones. His function is good so he may just have weird kidneys. Thank you for your concern
