Things are stressful recently. I know I have sent many messages, but I am still worried about the other circumstance right now. So my other guinea pig passed away for about four or five months since now. So today when I finished washing the brush which is used to clean my guinea pig's water bottle, the zip lock bag is not completely closed and the brush is not completely dried. So I put this inside the bag, but not completely closed it. I closed the bag after I move to the place where I put guinea pig's stuff. However, there is the medicine for the previous guiniea pig which is antibotics or medicine for treating URI. I usually closed the ziplock bag completelly for preventing the extra bacrerias or virus on the box of medicine getting inside the brush. Even though I just walked by it, but not touching the box, but it is really near. Do you guys think it still contagious and bring harm so I cannot use this brush? Will the bacteria transfer in air or the flowed air or quick or slow flowing water? Will the wet brush easily be sticky to get this bacteria or virus? I know these questions are not necessary, but I worried. Please Help!

Whatever causes a URI isn’t likely to still be around four or five months later.

You need to read and take in what you’re told.

So if the virus or bacteria will just grow in guinea pig. If he is not around even for a month, the virus or the bacteria will die?

So basically, the virus and the bacteria from URI will die no matter it is inside or outside the box or wherever the virus and the bacteria are. Even they are near cage, they will die after four or five months, right?

Once again yes

Hi hun. It seems to me from this and your previous thread that you are very worried about viruses and bacteria in general and especially in relation to your pigs but I agree with the advice you have already been given that viruses and bacteria will not have survived for four or five months on or in a box. I hope the advice we are able to give is of some reassurance to you.

Yes, that is what I mostly worried about. I also worried about some dirts related to guinea pigs in some way. It is more like from some daily things you know.

I am sorry, but I am curious about how long the virus or the bacteria from URI will die.
The bacteria needs some kind of host to survive. If you cleaned it’s not likely to still be there. You’re not just curious, you’re worried about it because you keep asking more questions even when you’ve been given the same answer several times. If that’s what you wanted to know then you should have asked that. Rather than say you’re worried it’s still on the brush. And we did answer you, just not what you wanted to hear I guess.

You need to find a way to stop worrying about bacteria and dirt with regards your piggies. All of us encounter these things and our piggies are okay. Relax and enjoy them. If They make you so anxious perhaps you have to rethink things. Sorry if that’s not what you want to hear 🥺

I will change ways to think about things, but I think the time is important. Changing the way is so hard 😢

You need help that we can’t give you here.
I will try to. But I have the other question. Do you think the letters from outside will cause problems? Like just now, my mom took letters but washed hands in kitchen sink where I used to clean guinea pig's bottle. Will the sink be full of virus?

Your guinea pigs are not going to catch illnesses from your mom washing her hands in the same sink where you fill the water bottle. Forgive me if I'm stepping out of line, but you seem extremely concerned about illness or contamination. I realize these are scary times right now, but I remember these questions predating the current situation. Coming from a person with anxiety myself, are you talking to anyone about your level of worry or anxiety? It's worth seeking out help if you are so anxious about things that you can't enjoy your daily life due to worries. I've been there with a lot of unfounded worries (I have generalized anxiety disorder) and I've also worked with counselors to get on top of them, and I can vouch that life is a lot better when you learn how to manage worry/anxiety more productively. Again, not meaning to overstep bounds in any way, just saying what I wish had known much sooner. Best wishes to you and your piggies.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I really appreciate it. I think in the past, I had a little obsessive-compulsive disorder and some anxiety disorders, but not affected me too much. However, because right now, the world is stressful. I become more and more anxiety about my piggie and my family. I worried about the virus transferred to my piggie or to my family. I think I can overcome it, but the feeling will come if something happened.

It is a relief to know there is a person like me and overcome it. I want to thank you. However, I worried too much during this time period.

I think one of the reason of it is from the "unknown"

You were worrying about this last year, before current circumstances. Please please get some help. Either to slowly overcome and rationalise. Or to learn to live with it so it doesn’t affect you to this extent.
