The vet I saw today didn’t think it was an abscess. If it’s not what could it be? Sven was neutered on the 18th. It’s a hard ball all on one side. He goes to the real vet on Monday (the one that did his surgery). He saw him last Saturday and he didn’t think abscess either, but gave me antibiotics on Wednesday when I called and said it hadn’t gone down and may have gotten bigger. Poor Sven, I just want him back to his spunky self!4FFF2249-66D7-44CB-AE30-B3C178A8A1AF.webpA2E7B5A1-5D8E-4879-8FDD-68A8438103C0.webp

@HeatherRose For it to come on so quickly and for it to be in a surgical site I'd be inclined to agree that it's an abscess.

Having the antibiotics will help until he's back to his proper vet on Monday.

How is he feeling? Eating and pooping okay?

Did you say he's had it drained at some point? If not an abscess it could be a hematoma or just a large lump of swelling. I agree with @Jaycey though, given the signs I would still be convinced it is an abscess. So glad he's feeling a lot better!

He is eating but has lost weight so I am syringe feeding too. His poops were smaller and some looked dry. Today they look better since I started syringe feeding yesterday.

It hasn’t been drained at all, I’m hoping the vet will do something like that tomorrow if it is necessary.

Ahh it must have been a different thread I was thinking about. I've got all my fingers crossed that they get to the bottom of it tomorrow!
