I've a guinea pig that has an abscess, and noticed that some people use a curved tipped syringe to flush this.

I've searched on Ebay for one, but there doesn't appear to be many. Some are coming up under the category, Toys & Modelling (used for gluing), and under a Dental category.
Can I use one of these? Do these syringes have a special name, so I can search for one properly? Can somebody recommend where to buy them, and what size I should get?

Thanks.

hi, ask your vet for a cople of plastic teet cannula , he will know what you meen
they are great , you put them on the end of the syringe , they are flexibale , and make wound flushing less stessfull for both you and your pig

you shoulent have to pay ! l beleve the vet buys them for around £10 per 100

to see what l am talking about googal "plastic" cannula

you could google plastic cannula on ebay, but l did a quick surch and they were £30 per 1000,

The easiest way is to add a needle to the syringe - this increases the water pressure, so should make the flushing more effective. It works best if you can have someone hold your pig while you flush the abscess. By using this method, you can also hold the syringe further away from the pig, as it gives a more direct and accurate flow. A 10ml or 15ml syringe should hold enough liquid, to save you having to refill during a session - the vet should issue you with these things for free.

The one I use actually was a human dental syringe. So if you had access to one of those, that would work okay.
