On the 24th November after popping in PAH for a few bits for our new piggies, I couldn't help but nosey at the new piggies they had in store. In the corner was this beautiful black long haired guinea pig with a white mohican x) She was beautiful. I watched her for a little while before paying for my bits and leaving.
The next week I came back in store to find that she was still there, I had already told my OH about her and even though we had two new piggies we decided to get her and it was love at first sight! The assistant carefully picked her up and handed her to me and the first thing she did was reach her nose up to my lips, I was smiling and that was that she was ours :)

So I brought her home and did all the correct introductions, couldn't wait for her to meet my other two piggies and she fitted in like a house on fire. It was like she was their sister. I was chuffed to pieces :) She settled in great, went as far as to make great friends with my other piggy Malibu & they shared a little house together. :)

Over the next couple of days, I noticed that Peggy was coughing slightly, at first I thought it was her settling in and just a bit of furball with her being long haired then over the next week I noticed one morning that her breathing was rapid and she had gone off her food so rushed her straight to the vets.
There the vet told me that she had a chest infection that looked as though she had had for a considerable amount of time, he gave her a shot of antibiotics and prescribed antibiotics for me to give her via syringe.

I was so upset, the vet said they had to hit the infection hard or we could face losing her, I panicked about my other pigs but the vet said it was probably too late, that if they could catch it they would of done. Luckily they were both fit and well.
So over the next few days I spent lots of time cuddling Peggy, comforting her and hoping that she would gain strength. She was so good at having her medicine would happily chomp on the syringe which made it easier to treat her. But her stools were loose, she hadn't put any weight on and looked tiny in comparison to my other two. You could feel her spine, something after reflecting back I thought when I first held her but put it down to age.

Then one evening Peggy was squeeking and jumping in pain, it was about midnight and she was arching her back. The other pigs were panicking and so was I. We got her out of her cage and comforted her, wrapped her in a towel and just held her :... I looked everywhere for some advice and it looked like she may of been having issues with her bowels and bladder. My OH was angry, he said we should take her back to PAH and say this is not what we paid to go through and that they need to take her back. I didn't want that though, I knew he was probably right but she was my baby and if she was going to die anywhere I'd of rather it been at home. After doing a bit of research I decided it might be best to stop the fresh food for a day to see if it helped her bowels, the next morning she appeared to be much better.

So last night I did my usual and had cuddles, she was perched on one of the shelves and I opened the cage and gave her a tiny treat, she was licking my finger so we had another cuddle and that was that... then this morning I came down to find her lay dead in her house, the other pigs were unusually quiet and I burst into tears.
I had Peggy for a total of 3 weeks and 4 days, I loved that pig like she'd been around forever. Her personality was beautiful and in her short life she captivated and captured our hearts. I'm so sorry I couldn't do anything more & if I'd of known I'd of stayed awake the whole night just to give her the love and cuddles she so thoroughly deserved. 8...

RIP sweetheart, mummy pig loves you xxxxxxxxxxx <3

So sorry to hear this. am afraid that many pigs from this shop carry the same infection. You gave her your best and she had some love and affection.Keep a close eye on your other piggies and quarantine for at least three weeks in a seperate room.if you get any more . Recuesare your safest ;place. to get a piggie from.

Huge hugs to you, so sorry you've lost your beautiful little girl. She may only have been with you a short time but she was obviously very loved and cherished by you and your other piggies.

RIP Peggy
