Should my two guinea pigs have access to food all the time? Currently they have hay morning and evening along with fresh veg (usually carrot, cucumber and grass). Otherwise there is always guines pig nuggets in their cage. Should I restrict their access to food as one in particular seems to eat continuously although he doesn't appear to be overweight. The other one who eats less is more chunky though.

How much food do you give them?

Thanks

I think that sounds just fine! It's exactly what my guys have and they're just fine! The only thing I would recommend is varying their veggies as much as you possibly can.

As long as they don't seem fat and lethargic due to their weight, then everything sounds fine. Piggies tend to eat a lot, like most herbivors. :)

They should have access to food as they are grazers. They need to eat often to keep all of their gut moving and working. Mine have a large handful of pellets per piggy in the morning and then a bowl of different veggies per guinea in the evening. They also have access to unlimited hay 24/7 which is very important. And i also put loads of grass in or they go in the run during the day aswell. Mine seem to maintain a good weight and aren't fat or anything. If you give them lots of hay to munch on and they get enough exercise they should be fine.

That sounds fine to me my timetable for my lot is:

Hay and fresh AM
Hay, fresh, Pellets PM

and that does them they do eat all veg obviously and they graze on hay but the pellets are always there until next feed but they do eat them too. :) My 2 girlies are squeaking as they want some Pringles haha! No chance! :D

What I'm doing is OK then, but I will get some more variation in their veggies. I'm just amazed at how much they can eat! Wish I could eat the same without getting huge!

Thanks.
