Chippie (our 9 month-old castrated boar) has started acting oddly. He flops and spreads in his cage, often on his side, looking lethargic. He's also scratching (biting) at an irritation on his side.
He ate a lot of dandelion leaves from the garden and that's when I started noticing but it may have started before that.
He was castrated in Feb and has been fine until now.
Only other guineas he's been in contact with is spouse Coco and the babies she had (hence the op), which have all been given away in the last few weeks. Coco is looking a bit lethargic too.
They live indoors but are sometimes allowed to graze in the garden.
Looking at other forum posts I gather that mites could be a reason for the scratching but would he get those from the garden and would they cause the lethargy too?
He's going to be seen by the vet but I'd appreciate any suggestions as to what might be up.
