hi am just wondering how easy is it to add a 3rd guinea pig I have two females at the moment and would love to add another as I have made there cage bigger its 9ft now

I would add two rather then three as with three often one gets left out.

Take them to a rescue for some sow dating, you'll also have the satisfaction of rehoming some rescues.

I don't really want 4 my local rescue ask fir my guinea pigs to stay there for a week and am not comfortable think I will just stick with 2 :)

I went from having 2 to 3 and although Eleanor and Eliza welcomed Erin, I felt Erin was sometimes left out of Ellie and Eliza's strong bond so... I added a fourth so Erin could have a little playmate :)

The four of them get on so well as both a foursome and twosomes :)

There are members though who have happy trio's depending on circumstances and such like.

We had a trio and it seemed to work out although there were times when I felt like Millie was on her own a lot while the two sisters were very much together.

We decided to add a fourth and I'm so glad we did because it just feels like they are a proper group now and it's lovely to see :)

thanks everyone Alice and poppy don't have a strong bond anyway they never sleep together so adding another one might cause bit of trouble so think I will stick with 2 for now :)

If you want to add a third, you may like to consider dating them with neutered boars instead of a third sow - he has to get on with both girls.

Again, my experience is very much of a 2+1 situation when it comes to trios, with the exception of my current trio where the two sows bonded themselves within the context of a bigger group and chose their new husboar together at a rescue.
