Hey guys.

I have two females, Trixie and maisy, and baby Boo, female i think. anyway i am thinking about getting another female to add to the herd to make it four, and was wundering how ot, i have some ideas like in a nuturel room, if they dont get on bath them, but what has made me think is, Boo is two weeks old, would it be ok to introduce her to the new sow aswel or not? i have another hutch if i cant so, all advise please.

Thank you, Tom.

Any new piggies you get must be kept way from your existing piggies for a couple of weeks at least, to ensure that they are healthy and are not harbouring again nasties.

;D lol this made me think of a mixed gender piggies ;D you need to know the sex if you put them in with the girls, 101% sure or you could end up with more piggie paws scurring around than expected.
As for adding a fourth, i let mine bond together while supervised, and after some time ill put them into in a clean smelling hutch with spray over the piggies so they smell the same, this way, the dominant one will put there smell over the new kid and she'll become part the group

I have no probs introducing females to my herd there is 14 at the moment in there BUT it is a very big cc run with plenty of igloos and bottles and food chutes, so no reason for bickering, I have never seen any of my girls fight the worst I've seen is a quick bop of the head or nudge with the back leg , and as already said make 100% sure of the sex

She is two weeks old today, how is the best way to sex her, i have pressed very gently above her genitals but nothing seems to pop out lol. She looks like a girl tho so, Have you got any good sexing sites?

Would Boo be ok to introduce to the new one though, i am certain Boo is a girl. Would the new one kill her?

I wouldnt think they would kill her... try going on google and search 'how to sex guinea pigs' or somthing like that :)

I didnt think they would kill Boo but a friend sayd that she would get killed, She isnt that small, bout half size pf mummy pig.

when would you get the new pig? Maybe to be sure you could wait till boo is fully weaned... about a month old :)
Just a thought...

Well, i have checked and checked again and Boo's genitals look nothing like Maisy and Trixie, i think Boo is a Boy!

jsut be patient and if any doubt get your vet to confirm the sex then you can make a decision on where Boo can live and who with but 2 weeks is a little young yet my babies stay with mum until 4 to 5 weeks old

Yer... wait till s/he is a little older and get an experienced friend or vet to double check for you :)
I woud hold off getting more pigs till then because if Boo is a boy then you can get a boar friend for him... unless they will all live together.. then you will only want one boar ;D Sorry if I'm confusing! lol

2 weeks is very young, i would wait

Yes please wait. If Boo is a boy, you will probably have to get a boy to go with him when he's older, but if you rush in now and get a new girl piggy, then you will have to go and get Boo neutered to go with the girls, which you might not be able to afford (?) or have to go out and get another boy guinea to go with Boo.

Just wait until you know the sex of Boo, and then you can decide what's best to do O0

confusing babies when they are little i had the same problem, it is quite easy to get the females, weeing part with the males, but if you pull it out a girls makes a Y and a lads makes an I. If you are still stuck i suggest going to the vets.

yeh i would suggest going to the vet and asking, may i ask where did you get her/him from
