So I have a pair of boars, they get a long great and neither seem too dominant but one does tend to like being alone more. This isn't much of a problem but the younger pig, wesely, quite often will go over to the older one, Sebastian, and want to sit beside them. Sebastian doesn't have any of it the majority of the time and I'm just beginning to wonder if I should add a more 'cuddlier' younger male to the cage.
My only worry is that I've heard about people adding a third boar and it messing up the whole dynamic. But I also heard the opposite. Just wondering if anyone has any experience or input on the situation

Boar trios are notoriously difficult to get right, and depend very much on personalities, which don't always turn out as you expect. If your two are happy enough, I wouldn't risk a third. If your two are getting on ok, I would leave well alone.

Hi! Please don't! Your care speaks well for you, but this is a solution that will bring even more problems than it would solve.

Boar trios are notoriously difficult and are the most frequent problem in our behaviour section.
Your boys are well bonded, so please don't rock the boat! At the worst you can end up with three boars that won't go back together. I does happen and it has happened to forum members more than once.

Please take the time to read this guide here. How old is your younger boy? If he is a sub-teenage youngster, then you still have the hormonal teenage months to navigate and the real test is yet to come. With a third boy the fall-out rate will go right up as balancing three personalities under stress is really difficult.
