Hi, I currently have two sows, one is 3 months old, second is just two weeks behind. I want to add another sow. Should I only add a pig that's about the same age as the two? Or is it also ok to add a sow that's younger?

I recommend the link piggies&buns has put in their post. With your sows being young you are less likely to come across problems of non acceptance but it can and does happen. The age of the pig you add is not relevant, what is relevant is the personality of the pig and whether that fits in with the hierarchy of your current two. Another thing you might want to think about is how closely are your two bonded? A trio can often end up with an outsider situation. This was my first trip experience when I had an older and younger sow and the younger one was too cuddly for the older ones liking so I adopted a boar, had him neutered, bonded them only for the older one to mellow instantly and fall in love. This meant my younger sow still had no pig to snuggle with and that is the story of how I ended up with 4 :))

A final thing to consider is appropriate space. The RSPCA minimum space for 2 sows is a 120cm cage but we strongly recommend going a size bigger as they are always appreciative of more space. 3 sows would then need a minimum 140cm but again we recommend going 160 as a min. Then you need to think about whether you want to add more in the future especially if you end up with an outsider situation.
