So I live in Las Vegas where it’s usually dry and hot. I’ve been wanting to set up a humidifier but I’m not sure what the affects would be if I suddenly have humid air with my guinea pigs. Would it be bad for them if I did so? And if I can introduce the humidifier could I put essential oils in it like eucalyptus or peppermint, would that be safe for them? I’ve had them 4 and 5 years so far with no humidifier, I don’t want to suddenly get them sick if I did add it.

I can’t comment on the humidifier but you shouldn’t put essential oils in it as they can harm their delicate lungs
Being in humid air is probably not going to be very good for them.
But you definitely can’t add anything scented into the same room as piggies - no sprays, scents, candles, plug ins etc - as it came irritate their airways and cause breathing problems.

If they’ve been fine so far I wouldn’t rock the boat. I‘ve heard that too much humidity can sometimes cause respiratory problems.
