Good evening
I noticed this evening my pig looks as though he has a little limp? Nothing major and I’ve had a feel of both hind legs and he’s showing no signs of discomfort. He is eating and drinking normally and climbs up the cage for his dinner as always. Ive checked his feet for dry patches but I can’t see anything however I’ve been using paper to line his hay area which his quiet sodden when I’m changing them (I do this daily) I’m wondering if it could be the start of Bumblefoot perhaps? I have metacam in already and was wondering if giving it to him would be harmful if he wasn’t in pain? I’m obviously going to take him to the vet but monitor him tonight and tomorrow to see if there’s any improvement
Thank you

He need to see a vet as soon as possible for a proper check and diagnosis, you should not administer medications without a vet prescribing them in the correct dose and for each specific problem.
Keep his bedding clean and dry in the meantime and keep a close eye on him until he can see a vet.

Sounds just like the start of arthiritis to me. My old boar got like this towards age 6. He would sit for longer and get soggy with pee

If it is, you can manage it by using painkiller for guinea pigs, loxicom or Metacam for dogs, a vet will prescribe this and glucosamine works wonders. How old is he?

A limp could be caused by anything from bumblefoot, a torn nail, a sprain, arthritis, even a broken leg... I would advise seeing the vet asap, metacam may help the pain but will also mask the symptoms that the vet will need to see fully to give a correct diagnosis.

He’s one year old

So I noticed one of the nails on his foot was quiet long, I’ve cut it and tadaa he’s walking great! He has black nails so I trim them only a little because of the quick I’ve tried the torch trick but can still never see them! Thank you for the advice x
