Good evening

I have 2 boars who we adopted nearly 5 months ago from Pets at Home afterbeing taken back after their first owner only had then 3 weeks....

They are in an area in my garden with a hutch run cover and stuff to play with and thought would say hi as we have noticed some changes in behaviour and found this forum for advice ...

My piggies Blakey the more white and ginger guinea pig is displaying very dominant behaviour towards us and the other piggie Buddy and wondered if this is normal or anything we should be worried about please...
Blakey is chutting and wiggling his bum and swaying when Buddy comes near him sometimes but they they will also sleep together in the day time. He will also chutter his teeth at me sometimes. 😢 we don't force cuddles with them and let them be piggies Blakey will take food from me and both squeak in the morning for their greens so I hope they are happy..

Handsome little guys! You will get lots of great responses here from many people whom are experienced in this throughout the day so keep checking. What you are describing is normal. Boars will go through ages and stages that continue on and off many times; especially the first year. There is a link here on behavior and bonding and it is very informative. As long as there is no physical fighting or either being hurt, it seems just fine. Keep an eye on them and just check the less dominant one when he is out or each day for signs of being hurt anywhere and be prepared to separate only if they are fighting. Otherwise, the behavior you are describing is really normal dominance behavior and nothing to worry about.
Welcome to the forum. You have some really adorable and happy little piggies there :-).

Hi and welcome!

What a gorgeous pair!

It is very normal behaviour for teenage boars! Yours are currently in one of the more difficult stages, but are less likely to fall out by now; the dominance behaviour you are witnessing is very much in the mild range and no reason to worry.

You may find this guide here helpful, which also explains the different phases during the teenage months so you can understand better what is going on. Boars: Teenage, Bullying, Fighting, Fall-outs And What Next?
Here is a social behaviour guide; rumblestrutting is mild dominance behaviour that you can see in both genders.
Bonding: Illustrated Dominance Behaviours And Dynamics

As to your interaction with your piggies, make use of our piggy whispering tips to invite your boys into the herd you are leading, tell them you love them (always start and end with an assurance of love) and then assert your dominance clearly. This is how a socially adept piggy deals with a naughty teenager! Your boy is currently pushing the boundaries. Once you set clear ones, you will find that you have a much happier relationship. ;)

Welcome to the forum.
Those are 2 really gorgeous boys.
I have sows so can’t add to the good advice given.
Please feel free to post more pics of those lovely piggies

Thank you everybody for the advice and links it is very much appreciated .. They have grown so much since we adopted them and have given them a lot of space to run hide and climb

I am struggling to identify the breed of them as I was under the impression they were brothers but they are so different in size, hair types and tempermant

You have got a peru and and abyruvian (abyssinian/peruvian cross). Babies can be different breeds or mixes if the parents or grandparents have been different breeds; they can also be very different sizes and personalities.
