Good evening, exactly 8 days ago I adopted a neutered male that had been paired with my female at a local guinea pug rescue. We have had an amazing, fun experience bonding so far. Tonight however, the male is actively smelling my females rear end and aggressively chasing her. Is it possible he will mate her? Will he hurt her? My female is kicking him and tryi g to run away. I have them seperated now. Is this normal? Should I let them be? Thanks so much.

I’m not familiar with boar/sow bonds but I think this is normal. He seems to be trying but she’s not up for it at the moment hence the kicking.

You need to leave them together once bonding has started, unless there is a real evidence of them not getting along.

Have a read of the below.
Boars, sows or mixed pairs; babies or adults?

Bonding and Interaction: Illustrated social behaviours and bonding dynamics

Dominance Behaviours In Guinea Pigs

Moody guinea pigs: Depression, Bullying, Aggression, Stress, Fear and Antisocial Behaviour

Thank you. I will let it be unless she is in danger. And will keep reading to learn. Thanks. 💖
