Adorable next door cage bonding

So Theo has met the girls through the playpen bars a few times over the last few days with limited success, but tonight I moved Theo's cage next to the girls (it was across the room from them but he was in the morning sun so with the heatwave he needed moving).
I was expecting continuous rumble strutting and sexual frustration but Theo seems really pleasantly surprised and excited that magic inaccessible princesses lead a normal cage life! He's copying everything they do like "hey you're eating broccolli I do that too" and "hey you eat pellets look I do that too" and "ooh you have a water bottle? Me too!" And "hey you have a toilet tray? I've never used mine so the hoomans filled it with hay but I will sit in it when you are sitting in yours!"
Obviously I will monitor the situation closely but as a first go at being close up cage neighbours (and eventually husboar and wives sharing a cage) this is going much better than expected :)

I feel very lucky compared to some of the awful things other people are going through on the forum but I thought its nice to share a happy behaviour and bonding story while we have one :) though I know everything could change for the worse anytime Piggle stops seeing Theo as her flatmate's hilarious boyfriend (he's adorable, but he is tiny and looks like a microscopic badger) and starts seeing him as a threat or a potential mate!

Sows that are not in season have this habit of behaving like butter wouldn't melt in their mouths, aren't they just?
Sounds like Theo is just so happy about company that he is forgetting that he is a boy... :D

So today the girls are still behaving beautifully but once he went in the playpen today Theo's testosterone fuelled behaviour was showing again... but today instead of focusing on the girls, he tried to seduce/dominate... my shoe! The shoe seemed more receptive to his rumble strutting than Piggle and Puggle and it didnt run away even when it was scent marked and sprayed with pee :) so Theo is happy he thinks he made a conquest and my shoe smells very musky and masculine now :)

I know - once the gonads take over, the brain is turned off. You have to allow him to get over his excitement so he can find the on switch again! Thankfully this is going to happen at some point...
A piggy sized toddler-safe soft humping toy might be just the right thing for him!
 
Well it took a while, but lady Piggle has finally noticed Theo! She has ignored him for a week but today she started flirting with him in her own unique bossy way (shoving her nose up his bum everytime he came close enough to the bars). Theo was initially terrified and ran away to seek solace in his love shoe, and Puggle was a bit sulky as she considers Theo to be her boyfriend, but after a nap and a coriander snack now everyone is friends :)
Strangely not much rumble strutting from either Piggle or Theo at each other! Piggle even let Theo stick his nose through the bars and steal they hay she was eating which she would usually consider as an act of war (if Puggle takes Piggle's food once too often they sometimes stand on their hind legs boxing like kangaroos and making a scary chittery Hannibal Lecter psychopath noise).
My husband noticed that they are all starting to act like a proper herd, everyone took a nap at the same time, ran around popcorning at the same time, now they are all eating hay cubes at the same time... 7 weeks 5 days until we can take away the dividing bars!
