This is a question posted on behalf of @vickie bashford .

Are these safe please? Someone that Vickie knows has mentioned that their guinea pigs died after eating the pellets. Vickie's guinea pigs have had no problems after eating them and have had them for some time now. My own thoughts are that the death was either a coincidence OR a sudden change of diet caused an issue, probably not the ingredients of the pellets themselves. However I do not know and have never used them.

Does anyone else use these pellets please?
Does anyone know if there are any ingredients in Asda pellets that could cause illness?
Or is there too much grain, or the wrong ratios of ingredients?

Many thanks :)

:D I can't really comment on this as I have never used Asda pellets, but I am sure there are some members who have without any problems.

I know some purists would question some of the ingredients in this type of pellet - but I don't think they're harmful to guinea pigs.

Mine all love them - even Bumble who sadly has to have low calcium pellets .

Ours have always had them with no problems. Asda have recently changed the graphics on the packaging but the pellets are still the same. Nick.

A while ago l tried them once, as s stop gap ,
but l prefare a tried an trusted brand

The GPM lot have been on them for about a year now, Daisy is tucking in as I type. I did a thorough ingredients check against the previous usual brand of Harringtons and found no discernible difference (in my opinion)
