Teenage Guinea Pig
Hi there!
I'm putting the thread in the Guinea Pig Chat section, since all of my pigs are healthy.
I live in Bulgaria, and because quality products for guinea pigs are rare/non-existent here, I purchase a lot over the Internet. I always maintain a pack of Oxbow's Critical Care just in case, but (fortunately) I had to throw away the last three packages without ever using them, because they reached their use-by date.
This left me wondering if I needed a product like Critical Care at all - does it have any distinct advantages over using pellet slurry, aside from the convenience to not have to crush the pellets? I always keep a stash of pre- and probiotics and vitamin C, so I can easily be supplementing the pellet slurry with that. At the same time, if a product like Emeraid and Critical care is better in any way and would help my pigs recovery more easily and quickly from an illness, I'm happy to keep ordering it, even if it may never be used. I can't order it if/when they need it, because the delivery to a UK parcel forwarding company takes ca. 2-3 days, and then from there to Sofia is about a week.
Until now, I've always been ordering Critical Care by Oxbow. If I do order such a product, would you recommend Emeraid over Critical Care? I checked the Critical Care's ingredients, and they aren't too dissimilar from the Adult Guinea Pig pellets.
