Hi,

I don't know if I have posted this in the right forum but I wasn't too sure which suited it best.

I am struggling with life a bit at the moment so have been thinking of spending a few days at my mam and dad's house so I'm not by myself so much.
My parents live 35 miles away so I thought I would pack up the C&C cage and take the pigs with me.
My big concern though is they're only about 4 months old. They're doing really well getting used to me and their new house, so I don't want to set them back. My gut feeling is that moving them won't be good for them.

I'm sorry to hear that you're not feeling great. Try and keep your chin up.

Anyway, I had to move house when two of my girls were about 3-4months old and they coped fine. I also rehomed two other girls that were 6months old. Both pairs were a bit timid over the following couple of days but after that they were fine.

Plan your journey well and try to avoid traffic and other things that will make your journey longer. When I travel with mine, I have the radio on low so there's just a constant back noise and I constantly talk to them.

Mine travel in a box stuffed full of hay which keeps them happy. I think there's a thread about traveling with pigs. I'll link it if I find it. ;)

*edit*
Found it :D https://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/threads/travelling-with-guinea-pigs.109071/

Sorry to hear you are under the weather. I think having your guinea pigs with you at your parents will be more reassuring for you. 35 miles is not too far.

hopefully a few days at the parents will revive & refresh you so that you're feeling more positive :tu:

they say a change is as good as a rest
sounds like piggies are generally ok travelling, as long as they get water , nom-noms (surprise!) but no extremes or fluctuations in temperature, plenty of ventilation (no draughts),
oh & no dodgy singing on the way... they have delicate little ears :D
:dri:happy travelling & hope you all have a good time.
keep your chin up & take care

xx

Thank you everyone. I decided to go, and we made it. Pigs seem ok so far. I've set their cage up exactly the same as it is at home. Cookie came out and had a mooch about and a little squeak, whereas Peanut just hid. Cookie then settled down quite comfy on her side.
Hopefully they'll get used to it. My mam and dad will be in tomorrow to keep an eye on them.
I talked to them the whole way, and they did have to listen to my singing but only a couple of times :))
