Hi all,

I'm new to this website so big hello to everyone!

My little Rocco was neutered two days ago and I brought him home earlier on today. I've noticed that he's quite sleepy and eating very little. I'm so worried about him. Can anyone tell me about their experiences from neutering their little ones?

Thanks in advance,
Littlebubble and Rocco

It is possible he is sleepy from the anaesthetic but 2 days later seems a long time. Do you know if he has been given pain relief and if he was eating and pooing ok at the vets?

Please contact your vets and also start syringe feeding him to keep his guts going. It can be an adverse reaction to the GA or a pain issue.

thanks for the replies.
I just called the vet and she said she didn't think it was anything to worry about but to syringe feed him and keep a close eye on him overnight. I can't help but feel worried though as he's very lethargic and I've never seen him this way. I feel awful for doing this to him :(((( I'm so worried.

That may explain it then, could you speak to them again and see if you could pick up some oral Metacam or Rimadyl even. You will need to check he hasn't been given a longer lasting pain killer by injection though, but usually I think they only last 48 hours. The op was 2 days ago?

Yes his op was Wednesday evening, he seemed to perk up slightly but then went very still and sleepy again so maybe it is pain kicking in..the poor little guy. I suppose all I can do is keep watch over him tonight and then get him to the vet in the morning. I wish it was just tomorrow now!
