advice - looking after rabbit

hello guys

i have been asked to look after a friends rabbit for 2 weeks i live in an appartement so the rabbit would come to my appartement in her cage.

However, i am worried as i have read that rabbits can carry a bacteria that can cause disease in guinea pigs. With this in mind, i am unsure whether to mind the bunny?

Obviousely i wouldnt let the bunny go near the pigs but id hate for them to catch any diseases off her.

i have been told that the bunny is 8 months old and has had all her injections etc.

What do you guys think on this?

The same bacteria is found also in cats and dogs and i know many owners including myself have these pets, and even though sometimes my cat can be at quite close range to my guinea pig it has never cause a problem.

There would be no harm in minding the bunny, and as i'm sure you won't be allowing them to come in contact due to safety reasons i'm sure it will be perfectly safe for all.

i would hate to put them at risk so would not put them near eachother id be scared to death of it being transferred off my hands though :{
 
My piggies and bunnies live in the same shed albeit in different hutches. I've encountered no problems. ;)
 
Mine live in the same shed too, seperate of course, and I've not had any probs with cross contamination.
 
I have a house bunny and he lives in my room with me and the piggies.
 
McMac and my two have met through mesh once in the garden and they were all ok

If you are worried though I would try getting the cage out of reach of the bunny, so lifting it up on a table or whatever :)
 
I have 2 rabbits and they reside in an enclosure next to my guinea pig enclosure. I've had them like that for years, and had no problems at all.
As long as they don't come into contact there shouldn't be any harm.
