Advice needed please

Me and my mum are thinking of getting another pig to go with our 2 girls. They both had babies about the same time and out of them came 3 girls and 1 boy. The girls went to a friend and the boy was neutered to go with the girls. Unfortunatly he went into shock when he came home, after the opp, and died :'(. So we were thinking about getting another girl, or an already neutered male.
Our one concern is how the girls will take to another pig, as their 3 daughters came to visit last summer and they tried to kill them :o
Mum got a very deep bite on her hand trying to break it up. Just wonder whether they felt intimidated because they were out numbered? 98)

Any advice appreciated, thanks for reading ;)
 
I think an already neutered boar from a rescue sounds like a fantastic idea! Soem rescues will let you 'try before you buy' and make sure he gets on with your girls before you take him home!

Hiya,
I agree with Perfectpiggies as it is nice to rescue animals! When you are introducing them together maybe you could put them in a run together, so that they can get away from eachother easily and also more than 1 shelter so that new guinea pig can hide from the others if the new guinea pig gets scared (or vise versa).

Hope this helps and makes sense sorrry about the death the same thing has happened to one of my guinea pigs too :'(

I don't know what the likelyhood of finding an already neutered boar is?
Plus mum would like another american crested, it's her fav breed. Would love to rescue again though
 
And with regards to putting them in a run together, they were in a huge run but still went for them :o
 
Most rescue boars if they arent paired are neutered, or if you tellt he rescue what you want, they may neuter a boar to come live with your girls :smitten:
 
Oooo not very far from us at all! Have a look on the forum and see if there is any piggers you like! We coudl always arrange a piggy tran and you could pick up/deliver to you :) O0
 
yeah i'd rescue a neutered boar, getting one from perfect piggies, sounds really good, cos i'm sure you'd be able to see if they got on before you rehomed him O0 hope it goes well let us know :)
