Hello to you all!
I am a newbie here!
Today I brought home two 9 week old guineapigs, they are brothers, that I got from my local Pet shop.
I have been reading up on them and have also been to the pet shop 3 times before bringing them home so they could kind of get used to me and my scent.
I have got them in an indoor cage and had the cage ready with newspaper at bottom, chippings on top and the hay used to transport them home in I have put in their sheltered sleeping area.
Both of them were fine in the shop and were happy to be handled. One of them is still that way but the other one seems very distressed at being handled. I gave them a cuddle before putting them in the cage and have managed to take them out once since. One will happily sit on my sons lap and be stroked but the other one is squeaking loudly and is shaking with nerves.
They have stayed in their shelter since coming here and have not ventured out for food or water.
Is this normal for them to be this way?
What would be better for me to do regarding the more distressed one as I dont want them to be unhappy.
Thank you for taking the time to read this x
