I need a more accurate title, but that's the best I could do.

Basically I posted a couple of months back saying that I didn't think Tess was coping too well in the herd in terms of keeping her weight up and I think the time has come to seriously consider taking her out of the herd and putting her with a friend/a few friends where she isn't having to compete with much bolder piggies. My dilemma is that her bestest best friend in the herd is Einstein - my herd boar. Now, I desperately would like to keep them together but this means leaving my herd in need of a new man to take charge.

So, if I were to start my search for a new boar (either for Tess or the herd) would a new top boar for the herd be an option? My herd have already shown that they are incredibly accepting of all new arrivals, but I've never had reason to 'swap' boars with my sows...

I definitely want to keep Tess with her man if possible. 9 times out of 10 they can be found snuggled up to each other and I know Einstein would be happy either way. But with some gentle introductions would introducing a new man to my herd be feasible?

Thanks for any advice y'all might have!

from my experience the best herd boars are confident, sensible types who are not overly aggressive piggies or too timid, otherwise a bunch of girly pigs can become all too much for them, especially if some of your girls are fiesty types. personally i would look for a boar aged two or older and from somewhere that can tell you exactly what his personality is like.
i have just spied a piggy called Dandy on the rehoming section who looks like he could it the bill!
